When Kyosho released a series of three colors on their 1/18 scale Ousia series of the Lamborghini Countach LP400, I wasn’t interested in adding these to my collection; all three colors, red, yellow, and black, already existed as all-opening diecast models from Kyosho, so why bother with a sealed diecast, I asked myself.

Years later, in late 2025, I found a listing for the red Kyosho Ousia one. I finally added it to my collection, just to see how it compared against the diecast version, and even more so because Kyosho just did a re-release on the Countach LP400 in red. It didn’t look too bad; sure the opening version is more interesting, but from a collector’s point of view, and because I had every other Lamborghini model released by Kyosho in this Ousia series, I decided to look for the two other shades on this Countach model.

And that’s where things started to become weird in my opinion, back when new, in late 2017, these were listed at $99/€99 at most online shops, so a more budget-friendly option to the expensive diecast versions, and I even remember that some time later they got discounted to sub $70 or less, but these days, prices went up, considerably up, I managed to find this yellow one for €129, but still, that’s a lot for this specific model if you ask me.

And if you want a complete model, the way it was initially sent out by dealers, you’ll have to get the protective wrapping plastic on the ‘windows’ of the black box, with said box inside a white cardboard sleeve; sadly by now, most of that is gone, and you’ll be lucky to receive the black ‘window’ box in perfect condition.

Also keep in mind, we are still talking about a Kyosho diecast model, albeit a sealed one, but the same precaution about the paint applies: check for paint rash. Now a yellow model like this is usually fine, but red or orange is always a risk, and black is probably the worst, so keep that in the back of your mind when shopping for these on the second-hand market.

Fortunatly this model is in perfect condition, and while it did lack the white sleeve and the protective plastic pieces on the ‘windows’ of the box, it is still a very nice model, nicely detailed, and I have no regret adding it to the collection.
