No, I didn't buy the same model twice. I know I've done that before with a 1/43 scale model, but not yet with a 1/18 scale model, and certainly not one that isn't cheap by any standards, like a Kyosho die-cast Lamborghini Miura, like this.
Yes, this is another red P400, but this one is item number 08314R, a brand new release from Kyosho. In contrast, item 08312R, which I've owned for many years by now, was the original release in red, but there are subtle differences between the two, which made me decide to add the new one in red to the collection too.
On the exterior, I think only the rear view mirrors are different, as in, there are none on the new release. Now, remember that back in the Sixties, when the Lamborghini Miura was introduced, these were mandatory. Therefore, it would make sense for Lamborghini not to fit them to all cars anyway.
But the biggest difference is on the inside of this Kyosho scale model, the old model came with black seats, a black dashboard, and red carpet, this new release now has a more tan/brown interior combined with a darker brown dashboard and black seatbelts, and I have to admit, I like this new color a lot better.
So should you buy this new release from Kyosho on the Lamborghini Miura P400 in 1/18 scale? Yes, surely if you don't own the original diecast release from many years ago, on the other hand, if you already own the old one, that would be up to you, for me this new one is different enough to warrant adding it to the collection, but that's a decision you'll have to make on your own.
These are the three shades that have recently been released by Kyosho on this Lamborghini Miura P400, orange, red, and white:
