When I started collecting Lamborghini models, I started with the Countach, a Quattrovalvole model from Tonka Polistil. After that, a few Bburago and Maisto models, I couldn't afford the 'better' models out there from AUTOart and Kyosho.
I still remember buying my first AUTOart model, the black Lamborghini Diablo SV, and shortly after that, my first Kyosho model, the red Lamborghini Countach LP500S ... and then I discovered the Lamborghini Miura, first the red SVR model from Kyosho, after that the white AUTOart Miura SV, and that's when thing got out of hand, and the collection started growing ever since.

Over the years, I managed to add quite a few Lamborghini Miura models, both from AUTOart (who only released the Miura SV), and from Kyosho, who released just about every version made in Sant'Agata, the original Miura P400, the later Miura S, the Miura SV, and naturally the Miura SVR and SVJ versions, at one point I obtained the ultimate goal, every color on every version ever made by Kyosho on a 1/18 scale ...until recently they decided to do a new release on the Miura P400 in three colors, white, red, and this orange one, all with a new item number by the way.

I don't think Kyosho is using new molds for these 08314x releases; they look more or less the same as the 08312x, but there are subtle differences nonetheless. For one, there never was a white or an orange Miura P400 in the old releases. The new 08314R isn't quite the same as the 08312R, so that's why I got all three new releases anyway.

For me, a 1/18 scale diecast Lamborghini Miura from Kyosho rarely disappoints, I love these models, and this new orange P400 is no different, the model looks amazing, feels amazing in your hands, and everything opens, even the headlights 'pop up', the grille over the fuel filler cap can be raised, and the luggage lid opens to show the small space you can use to store luggage in.

The interior inside this orange version, the 08314PB (I never understood why Kyosho insists on calling the orange cars 'P', but that's just me I guess), looks amazing, the switches on the roof panel behind the interior rear view mirror are there, the central console hosts a pletora of dials, the manual gearbox lever is present, as is the 'gated manual' grid on the central console.

The steering wheel on these new releases is black now, on the older release, Kyosho fitted a wooden rim on the steering wheel, still chrome spokes, and the deeply inset dials on the dashboard cluster are nicely detailed, even the 'lap belt' has been fitted by Kyosho on this 1/18 scale model, now that's attention to detail.

And then you open the front clamshell on this model to reveal the massive attention to detail underneath it, the battery is nicely detailed with necessary labels, the spare wheel is shown, dual fans to cool the radiator ... it's all there, down to the thread pattern on the classic Pirelli tires, just beautiful.

And the engine hiding underneath the rear clamshell is no different; the FIAM decals on the air filter housings are stunning, with all the scripts you would expect on the real car, and take a look at the springs Kyosho fitted to the rear suspension, they are blue with red dampers, which happens to be correct with some real Lamborghini Miura P400 cars, amazing.

So you might have got the impression by now that I really love these Kyosho Lamborghini Miura P400 models that have just been released, and you are right, these are must-have models if you ask me, even if, like me, you already have one or more of the older releases, these new ones are still worth adding anyway.

These are the three shades that have recently been released by Kyosho on this Lamborghini Miura P400, orange, red, and white:
