Several years ago I actually sold my model of this Lamborghini Murciélago LP670-4 Super Veloce finished in Rosso Targa, and I have been regretting that decision ever since ... completely sold out, never re-released by AUTOart again, when found on eBay or something similar the price was ridiculous, but thanks to a close friend I managed to add this model back into my collection for a reasonable price ... she came all the way from South Korea this time.

This isn't your normal shade of red, in fact, it is a pearl metallic red with a pink appearance under the right light, put this Bull in some nice sunshine outside and you will be amazed by the spectrum of shades ranging from red to pink … very impressive, but also extremely difficult to photograph right, perfect lighting and white balance are of the utmost importance here, I managed to get the shade right by using a closed workflow using profiles from the camera to the monitor to make sure the red is rendered correctly.

Initially, I was a bit unsure how it would look in real life if it would have metallic flakes in the paint at all … but it does, and I must say this Rosso Targa is really amazing, it is a shade darker compared to the red used by Kyosho on their Countach if you discard the metallic flakes the closest comparison would be the red 1/18 Urraco by Kyosho if put side by side in the same light … out in the sun however, the Murciélago changes to a pink hue and leaves the plain red Urraco behind … Rosso Targa is special, and I love it.

Being a second-hand model this time the paint suffered a little over time, but it all cleaned up nicely after some wax, buff, and shine … now the red has a stunning, very deep gloss … did I already mention I love this shade on the Super Veloce?

I have already made an in-depth review on the AUTOart 1/18 model of the Lamborghini Murciélago LP670-4 Super Veloce … and even if this is a different shade, the same attention to detail and near perfection still applies to the Rosso Targa version.

Yes, the same errors have been made, the upper section of the side sills shouldn't be finished in flat black but should be color coded (an issue that can quickly be solved by carefully using nail polish remover … but I haven't had the heart to try yet, do look for a ‘how to' on the various diecast forum online), but something I hadn't noticed at first can be seen at the front, next to the black side winglets the small ‘curves' next to the air intakes should also be color coded instead of black.

The clear carbon fiber used on the engine cover, rear section, and rear wing is still glossy on this AutoArt model while it should be satin finished, and honestly it wouldn't have hurt to put some different shade on the brake calipers, the yellow on this Rosso shade works remarkably well, but yellow calipers on an orange car doesn't look good in my opinion … and to make things worse AUTOart did do orange brake calipers … on the China Edition.

But I am still very, very happy with these new Super Veloce models, sure I already owned two MR models that were many times as expensive as these AutoArt ones before I decided to go for the matte black version … and was nearly blown away by it. AutoArt simply nailed it with these new Lamborghini models, and they are being sold at a premium these days … stock has completely run out at AUTOArt. This red shade, the Turquoise and Verde Sandag ones are highly sought after these days, and their price reflects that.

Now I know for a fact that the numbers produced of these AutoArt Murciélago Super Veloce are in the four digits area, I now again own five different shades of this model, and as much as I like the matte black and matte white ones, the orange one is still very high on my ‘like' list but this new Rosso Targa is now a serious contender for the top position … for me the large SV would have looked nice on this shade too, but I understand AutoArt wanted some ‘difference' between the shades …

I am really happy I've been able to add this rare AUTOart model to my collection again, and I hope I will never have to part with her again.
