Only a few months ago Lamborghini introduced the long awaited successor to the Murciélago, called the Aventador LP700-4, the new V12 flagship pumping out a healthy 700 hp in standard trim.
Naturally the scale model market jumped onto this new model and started development of various scale cars, the 1/43 version from Looksmart has been around for weeks already, but the larger 1/18 scale versions took a bit longer to arrive.
I have a 1/18 model from MR in pre-order, and makes like Bburago, Maisto and Mondo Motors all confirmed they will release a 1/18 model, even AutoArt and probably Norev will be building the Lamborghini Aventador ... but Bburago beat them all and has this orange model available worldwide right now.
I first noticed it listed at a shop in the USA, naturally I ordered the orange one at once, the price was right ... only to find out a day later the same shop also offered the black and gray shade ... so I quickly added them to my order so they could be shipped out together.
However the model on this page came from Germany, shipment and customs clearing for a package from the USA takes a bit longer, and as I'm impatient I was able to get one from an very early shipment in Germany.
When I opened the box I was pleasantly surprised by the model, it looked rather nice, the wheels look a but too small, but other than that Bburago made a very decent effort in re-creating the impressive look of the Avantador in a smaller scale.
On the Bburago model the doors open upwards and outwards, just like on the real car, but also the front bonnet opens as does the glass engine cover, the latter unveils a nicely detailed V12 power plant.
Overall this scale model looks nice, it is not in the same league as AutoArt, but neither is the price, so for the reasonable amount of money these models demand the look and feel is there, put in a little extra detailing yourself and you end up with a very nice Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 scale model
More importantly ... the only 1/18 scale model on the new Lamborghini flagship at this time, so it surely deserves a nice spot in your collection ... and when we will be able to get an AutoArt version you can always replace it ... or keep them both as I will.
Days later I already received the box holding three of these models from the United States, so both the black and the grey Aventador by Bburago will be added soon ... the second orange one will be modified into something different ... check back later.
