When Kyosho released the Lamborghini Countach LP400 on a 1/18 scale in their sealed Ousia series, I honestly wasn’t interested in adding this model to my collection, Kyosho released it in black, yellow, and red, and at that time I already owned their older die-cast version of this model, in exactly the same shades, so why would I bother with a sealed model I wondered.
At one point in time, these Ousia models were being heavily discounted in online shops, it seemed other collectors weren’t too eager to add these sealed models either, I remember seeing prices of €50 to €60 in the past, remember these Ousia were usually around the €100 mark when new, but today prices seem to have gone up quite a bit, and the Kyosho Ousia Lamborghini Countach LP400 has become somewhat valuable it seems.
Still, I wasn’t really looking into adding it to the collection, in fact, Kyosho just did a re-release of the all-opening die-cast version of the Lamborghini Countach LP400, both in yellow and red, and I did want to add those two because they changed the interior and added a few nice details ... but somehow I found an online auction listing for this red Countach LP400 Ousia, and the price was just too good to pass on, so I now have one of these sealed Kyosho models in my collection.
I have to admit, it isn’t bad, it’s a rather nice model, albeit nothing opens, and I still prefer both die-cast releases, but it’s another model I didn’t have in the collection yet, so why not ... and right now, I’m even keeping an eye out for the two other Kyosho Ousia Lamborghini Countach LP400, in yellow, and in black, if one comes up for a decent price, I might add it anyway, just to have the complete set together.
